That is how I have felt for the last few weeks.
I have landed a job with the State of Utah Drivers License Division at the gentle (ahem) nudging of my husband. Yes times are getting tight with the money so I had to get myself yet
another job. (Heck Shane has 4 why shouldn't I?)
Honestly when I applied for this job I was of the belief that there was no way in Hades that I could qualify to get it. I did it purely to satisfy my husband. I, after all, am "brain damaged" (hey, it is hard to outgrow some of those childhood beliefs I had (ahem..have)) and have a bad pre-adult past history (and let me tell you...the in depth background check and possibility of a lie detector test leaves nothing hidden). I was also sure I bombed the interview. I get all nervous and jittery and my brain shuts down as fast as my face reddens with nervous panic. I was 100% sure I didn't have to worry about fitting yet
another job in with being a Mom, running a car wash and the on and off sub job or web design project.
Lets just say I was floored when the boss called me up and offered me the job. I took it. What was I thinking?
For the past few weeks I have been training 10 hours a day as well as trying to run a home and car wash and finish a web project (and get to the kids soccer games). This is the first time I have had to just sit down and waste time on the computer. I should be trying to get my trashed home back in to running order but right now I am just to darn tired to.
I feel like a Mom who has abandoned her family. I have to keep reminding myself that it is probably good for Shane and the kids to have to function together. Shane has never been much for taking care of the kids....and they are not used to depending on him. Lets just say it has been ruff for us all. Shane has to take them to school, pick them up and tend them until I get home at 6:00. I told him I will only keep the job if the kids can be home with him while I am away. That is the whole reason why I have all these other odd jobs, because I could
fit them around my kids. I have two more weeks of training and then it will be a one day a week job. This will almost double my monthly earnings. (Is it going to be worth it though?)
To be honest the job is awesome. The people that work there are very friendly and fun to be around. There is a lot to learn but the job it quite rewarding. I have to believe it will be nice to have when all the training is over with. Maybe it could turn in to a great job when the kids have grown and left the nest.
Now if I can get over all the guilt I feel for not being home with the kids (where I feel I should be)...... I hate the fact that we have to have money to live!
Boy this is a negative post. I will be sure to follow up with a positive one!
Until next time!
